Vilnius and Gdańsk share a remarkable historical and emotional bond. After World War II, thousands of people from the Vilnius region emigrated to Gdańsk, playing a vital role in the city’s postwar reconstruction and in shaping its social and cultural life. To honor this connection, the annual festival “Vilnius in Gdańsk” was established, becoming a symbolic bridge between the two cities.
Anna Szprynger’s exhibition “Echo” presents the outcomes of a journey in the footsteps of M. K. Čiurlionis, attempting to see the world through his eyes. The artist visited Druskininkai, Vilnius, Kaunas, Plungė, the Gandingos piliakalnis hill, and Palanga—places significant to Čiurlionis’s life and work. In this journey, she sought points of resonance between her own sensitivity and Čiurlionis’s universe. It was not a scholarly investigation, but rather a voyage of imagination that allowed her to rediscover his art anew.
