M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art
V. Putvinskio St. 55, Kaunas, Lithuania
03. 02. 2026 – 03. 05. 2026
The exhibition presents photographs, drawings, and paintings that invite visitors to travel in the footsteps of M. K. Čiurlionis and to come closer to his vision of the world.
Anna Szprynger embarked on a personal experiential journey, seeking to try to see the world through Čiurlionis’s eyes – to see what he saw and to feel what moved and inspired him. This is not a scholarly study or a historical reconstruction, but a sensitive journey of imagination that allows a renewed opening toward Čiurlionis’s art.
The journey led to Druskininkai – the most personal and intimate place for Čiurlionis, where he grew up, studied, and formed his worldview. It also included visits to Vilnius and Kaunas, cities that strengthened his connection with Lithuania. The route continued to Plungė, where he refined his musical mastery, and to the Gandingos Hillfort, where his debut as a composer took place. On the Lithuanian coast, Palanga became an important stop – a place where the motif of the vastness of the sea emerged in Čiurlionis’s work.
“In each of these places, I tried to attune my gaze to Čiurlionis’s sensitivity. I searched for points of resonance between my perception of the world and the way he might have seen it. This experience encouraged a renewed look at Čiurlionis’s painting and a deeper listening to his music,” says the artist.
